About the event
It’s not easy to get to know ourselves more deeply and it’s not easy to establish a new meditation habit. That’s why this program was established - to create a welcoming environment to support you to integrate this new practice into your life. Everyone has their own reasons for practising meditation and yours is your own and no one else's. We will help you connect with your reasons so you can use them as drivers to flourish and succeed with your new skill.
The five-week Introductory Meditation Program is designed for people who have little or no experience in meditation and want to integrate it into their lives as a daily practice.
The program runs for five weeks at The Shed Collective in Oratia, each Monday from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. During the course, you will learn four core meditation techniques with a new practice being established each week. In the final week we introduce a further visualisation technique. Each week you will also get take-home material to read as well as written meditation instructions. You will be asked to meditate in your own time each day at home (this is the most important part) and we will supply you with a meditation journal to keep track of this daily practice.
In addition to the actual practice of techniques, we will have plenty of discussion and learning around the theory of the techniques and how they will impact your life. This discussion will centre on what the present moment actually is, why we’re often not there even though we think we are, our anchors to the present moment including our breath and our bodies, the wisdom that reveals itself to us in that moment, how we can use this wisdom to break unskillful thought and behaviour patterns, and how to generate new thoughts and behaviours that more loving and compassionate in order to bring positivity and abundance to our lives.
